"My name is Jessica McLean. I’m a single working mum with two children. My landlords are trying to evict us in order to put up the rent. 6000 people have signed a petition to say no."
Jessica's landlords want to increase her rent by 25%. With little option, and despite it causing her hardship, Jessica reluctantly agreed. Her only condition? That the landlord make a few much needed repairs. That's when she got an eviction notice. Read Jessica's full story here.
Jessica is also an ACORN member. With well over 6000 people now showing their support, it is clear that the community views the actions of Jess Properties as beyond the pale. We will continue to campaign to save the home of Jessica and her kids up to and including resisting the eviction.
Situations like Jessica's are too common and ACORN are fighting several at the moment. We are also campaigning widely for an ethical approach to housing, and our Ethical Letting Charter has been supported by Bristol City Council, landlords, letting agents, politicans, charities, student organisations and more.
