KNOWLEDGE IS (PEOPLE) POWER - 30 START ORGANISER TRAINING

Around 30 people have taken the plunge, joining our new training course to learn all about community organising!

30 intrepid ACORN volunteers joined another 15 (working with Barton Hill Settlement) at Easton’s Silai Centre last weekend to start a 6 month journey learning the principles, purpose and practice of community organising.

The weekend featured a crash course in building community power, as participants joined our 80 strong ACORN Halloween action for rental housing justice.

The action won politicians support and saw letting agents agree to discussions on a new Bristol Ethical Lettings Charter.

Over the next 6 months, we’ll be fighting through the rain and wind and cold to get out and about in Easton, Redfield, Lawrence Hill and St George, listening to the hopes and concerns of local residents and building powerful new community alliances.

Wish us luck!
