People power in Newham starts to pay off!

After hundreds of you spoke, the Newham boss in charge of private renting has agreed to listen to ACORN members about hazardous homes people feel they have to put up with. Without our members, we couldn't have got him to take us this seriously: this is people-power in action! So now we're heading to Newham's riverside offices to win changes for renters.

We're heading to Newham's riverside offices to talk to Russell Moffatt, about how we can get safety and security for all renters.

Newham's scheme to force all landlords to apply for a licence is a great idea. They've caught some of the worst landlords. But we want every landlord to fix health hazards quickly.

This win for people-power shows that if we speak together, we will be heard - and can end hazardous homes and unfair evictions in Newham for good. But as we get closer to winning, we need more of you to get involved. Could you do your bit for our action in the community?

You could help by introducing us to a local group you go to, or by speaking to renters with us, and, above all, you can help by joining us. Just call us on 07860-785-957 or lee.baker@acorncommunities.org.uk to find out how you can get involved.

We really are more powerful if we get together!
