Imagine an Easton where moving house didn’t cost you a month’s wages. Where renters living in poor conditions felt secure enough to speak out and so got their properties repaired. Imagine an Easton where families could move into a property and know that it wasn’t going to be sold from underneath them, forcing their kids to change schools. ACORN is currently running a petition, aiming to see at least 1000 local people sign to pressure letting agents to play fair by dropping fees and insecure rentals. At this public meeting on Thursday 3rd July at 7pm, ACORN members and people from around Easton will have a chance to speak directly to the letting agents at a public meeting. We will present them our petition. We will tell them our experiences of insecure, poor quality housing and rip-off tenancy fees. They will hear our voices and we will tell them why this matters! Two of them have already agreed to come and ACORN community campaigners are visiting the others on 20th June to leaflet the public and ask the agents to come and meet our community – their customers. Only people power creates change – please come.
