Tell CJ Hole to stop promoting extreme and damaging rent rises and sign the Ethical Lettings Charter!
Letting agent CJ Hole are sending letters to Bristol landlords encouraging them to massively increase their rents to eye watering figures.
The letter tells landlords "it is highly likely your property is due a rent increase" and goes on to say they have recently let a 1 bedroom flat in Southville for £895, and a 2 bedroom house in Windmill Hill for £1500!
£895 is a months wages for many of us - and more than that for some!
CJ Hole are shamelessly exploiting the housing crisis in order to exploit renters. They say "the demand from prospective tenants is far exceeding the number of available properties" calling this "bouyant".
Well we don't feel all that bouyant. We feel angry.
2000 Bristol renters are campaigning with ACORN for Ethical Lettings in the city. Our Ethical Lettings Charter calls for proper repairs and safety, an end to letting agency fees, an end to insecure rolling contracts (used to force up rents) and to avoid unwarranted and unfair rent increases, in favour of ethical and sustainable returns.
The Charter has been endorsed by Bristol City Council, Shelter, Citizens Advice, UWE Student Union Council, MP's and parliamentary candidates, and even local landlords and letting agents!
Join us to demand CJ Hole stop this excessive and dangerous profiteering, and commit to an ethical approach to lettings!
